South Madison Fire Territory

It is fair to say that most of us have used an ambulance or fire service at some point in our lives, or that we know someone else who has. For Assistant Fire Chief Darren Isaacs, the shortage of paramedics among increasing ambulance and fire service calls is too unbalanced.

In his presentation at the 2023 Open Hearts, Open Purses women’s giving circle event, Isaacs stated, “There is a shortage all over the country of paramedics. We plan to use the money to train two EMTs to be paramedics.”

Paramedics are the highest level of pre-hospital care, as they are able to perform emergency surgery on site, deliver babies, and more, Isaacs included in his pitch.

The extra emergency aid provided by the South Madison Fire Territory will ensure stronger protection and effectiveness of the ambulance and fire departments.

In June, 2025, thanks to the investment by Open Hearts, Open Purses, South Madison Fire Territory shared with the public that two trainees had graduated from Paramedic Training.
