An open field teeming with soccer players and their supporters now has a special corner dedicated to toddler play.
Falls Park used a $10,000 Open Hearts, Open Purses grant in 2025 to build a new playspace for our youngest neighbors. Tucked safely in the corner of the busy Barnhart Field, the toddler playground provides equipment tailored to 2-5 year-old children. The new playground expands recreation options for young families. Whether used by younger siblings enjoying the playground while older ones are on the soccer field, parents stopping by during walks, or neighbors meeting for casual play dates – this more secluded play space is poised to become a well-loved and well-used addition to Falls Park. Acquisition of the equipment was through an unexpected gift, so this project was not anticipated within the park’s current budget. OHOP funds were amplified by Charlie's Fund for Children and the generous support of Pendleton Lions Club, who supported the project in honor of the club's 100th anniversary.
