Milestone Ventures started the David L. Miller Scholarship Fund at South Madison Community Foundation in 2011, and in 2026 the fund underwent a change – becoming the David L. Miller Student Enrichment Fund benefitting Mitchell High School in Southern Indiana.
The Fund will provide an annual grant to encourage a teacher or teaching team within Mitchell High School to develop and utilize a creative teaching strategy which will help students master a subject or concept required for any course that applies for a Core 40 Diploma.
The fund founders Chuck Heintzelman and Carla Naum of Milestone Ventures created the fund in honor of David because "when we started Milestone Ventures, David was our first client and continued as a client for the 26 years we have been in business. It was through his support that we were able to succeed as a developer and consultant. David became our biggest client and this fund is our way of honoring him for his impact not only in Southern Indiana but on us personally."
In its first phase, the fund offered scholarship support of over $40,000 to sixteen talented students pursuing higher education. Going forward, the award will impact entire classrooms, departments, students and teachers - all while honoring community, business, and interpersonal impact of a cherished client and friend.
