Fifth graders and drones go together like mac & cheese! Last week, students at Maple Ridge Elementary had the chance to explore Ivy Tech’s STEM learning initiatives. We visited while one fifth grade class explored drones. In one 50-minute class, Ivy Tech instructors succinctly covered basic drone knowledge, drone career opportunities and hands-on drone experience in the gym. The instructor described the drone flying exercise as “controlled chaos”, but from our point of view, the students were focused and supportive of each other’s efforts. Several students said this was their favorite STEM lab so far!
